«Friends forever»
The sea is silver, the sky blue – we are in Senj, a coastal Croatian town. Red Zora and her gang live there in an old castle ruin. They get by on tricks and petty theft of the rich. They’re always running away from the police. One day when young Branko gets arrested, Red Zora frees him and accepts him into her gang. Now, along with Pavle and Duro, the four of them can stand up to the adults in the city as they try to find their place in the world. Gorian the fisherman and Curcin the baker help them. Do they manage to win the battle for a more just world?
Based on the novel written by Kurt Held in Ticino, an adventurous piece about unconditional friendship, courage, and solidarity emerges on the Pfauen stage. The work premiered at Theater Bremen in 2019, was adapted at Grillo-Theater Essen, and is now being restaged with the Zurich ensemble at Schauspielhaus Zürich.
