Dea Loher

Dea Loher is one of the most important authors of our time. Born in 1964 in Traunstein. Studied philosophy and German language and literature in Munich. The collaboration between the author and director Andreas Kriegenburg began in 1995 with FREMDES HAUS at the Staatstheater Hannover, who has since premiered most of her plays, including UNSCHULD (Thalia Theater, 2003), DAS LEBEN AUF DER PRACA ROOSEVELT (Thalia Theater, 2004), DIEBE. (German Theatre, 2010). Dea Loher's plays have been translated into over 15 languages and are performed all over the world. She has received numerous prizes and honours for her literary work, including the Bertolt Brecht Prize of the City of Augsburg in 2006: ‘Anyone who studies her plays is forced to dispense with the usual labels. At some point, the theatre world will probably agree to simply call Dea Loherer's work ‘Loheresque’ and thus have found the ultimate term for the extraordinary intelligence, linguistic power and emotional intensity of this writer's plays.’ (Uwe Wittstock in the laudatory speech). Her new play FRAU YAMAMOTO IST NOCH DA will premiere simultaneously in Tokyo and Zurich in September 2024. Dea Loher lives in Berlin.
