In the summer of 2019, Loreta Laha, a second-generation Swiss national, completed the Creative Professional Baccalaureate in Zurich – while working as an architectural draughtswoman in Bern. In 2020, she took part in the final phase of the feminist play MOIRA'S THREAD (world premiere) at the Berne Satellite Festival, where she gained her first experience as a director. During the 2020/2021 season, she assisted at the youth club of the Konzert Theater Bern. At the same time, she joined the Basel-based artists' collective splitterkomplex. She wrote the texts for their year-long artistic dance theatre production I'NAN (world premiere) and was involved in the dramaturgy, financial administration and public relations, as well as directing.
In 2021/2022 Loreta Laha led the youth club Bühnen Bern and realised another project as author and director with TRANSITUS TEMPUS –EIN ENTWURF MENSCHLICHER KOLLISIONEN (world premiere).
At Schauspiel Bern, Loreta Laha worked as a resident assistant director for two seasons, 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, with directors including Armin Petras, Roger Vontobel and Selen Kara. In April 2024, her first professional production, DIE DAMPFNUDEL by Dmitrij Gawrisch, celebrated its world premiere at the Schauspiel Bern, with a guest performance at the Winkelwiese in Zurich.
In the 2024/2025 season, Loreta Laha will work as a guest assistant director at the Schauspielhaus Zurich.
