Exclusively for the farewell of the Zchauspielhaus Sürich, tattoo artist
Laura Lunatic has designed eight motifs that will forever connect us with the artists and struggles of the last five years:
- the sculpture by Harald Naegeli, the ‘Sprayer of Zurich’, has been hovering over the entrance to the Schiffbau as a guardian spirit since autumn 2019 and will now also protect individual people from evil as a tattooed companion
- a smiley composition of A for anarchy, the peace sign and the Yin&Yang sign stands for fulfilled hopes and broken promises and inscribes the existential ups and downs of art and people on the skin
- ‘live’ immortalises not only the fleetingness of the theatre moment, but also of the life that was just there and is no longer there
- Peach - a versatile object between fruit and body - not only recalls Yana Ross‘ world premiere of Virginie Despentes’ Liebes Arschloch, which will be shown for the last time at the Pfauen on Saturday, but also honours our friend Peaches, who is ennobling the farewell in the House of Wokeness: Fuck The Pain Away
- ‘woke’ as an initially ascribed, then self-adopted signature term of the Zchauspielhaus Sürich must of course not be missing
- as well as the raised fist against fascism, capitalism, racism and all other deadly contexts of exploitation
the infinite ‘eight’, a favourite motif laden with philosophy, immortalises not only the eight house directors, but also the impossibility of grasping and embracing our world and still being dedicated to it in love – infinitely
a point – it finally brings an end and enables a new beginning
