Johann Jürgens

Johann Jürgens, born in Neubrandenburg in 1985, completed his acting training at the Theaterakademie Zinnowitz and later at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. From 2008 to 2013, he was a permanent member of the ensemble under Armin Petras at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and worked with directors such as Jan Bosse, Sebastian Baumgarten, Nora Schlocker and Babara Weber. From 2013 to 2016, he moved to the Staatstheater Stuttgart, also under Petras, where he worked on productions by David Bösch, Frank Castorf, Armin Petras and René Pollesch. From 2017 to 2021, he worked as a freelancer and made guest appearances at the Staatstheater Cottbus, Darmstadt and Meinigen, the Deutsches Theater, the Gorki Theater Berlin, the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg and the Schauspielhäuser Düsseldorf and Zurich. In addition to the theater, he can be seen in several television and cinema film productions, including the ARD and Sky series “Babylon Berlin”. Most recently, he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Kassel from 2021 to 2024. In addition to acting, Johann Jürgens is also a musician, singer and songwriter. In the production “Die Friedensstifterin” by Avishai Milstein at the Staatstheater Kassel, he developed songs and atmospheres on and with the cello together with the musician Thies Mynther. He has also performed in various band formations.
