Polly Lapkovskaja aka POLLYESTER was born in Minsk in 1982 and studied jazz double bass in Munich before establishing herself in Munich's subculture as a performance artist, singer, composer and musician. She played in many bands and artist collectives, including Munk and Kamerakino, and organized the Zombocombo, a monthly party and performance series in Munich, for 8 years. In 2008 she worked with Peter Kastenmüller in the project “Illegal” at the Münchner Kammerspiele for the first time as a theater musician, then regularly at the Münchner Kammerspiele, and also at the Theater Basel and Residenztheater Munich, among others. In 2010, she realized the project “Pollyester Parking Lot”, a staged parking lot where concerts and performances took place. Pollester's debut album “Earthly Powers” was released in 2011. The band toured the EU, UK, Japan and the USA.
As a theater musician, Polly has worked with directors Sebastian Nübling, Karin Henkel, Peter Kastenmüller, Tom Kühnel and others at theaters in Munich, Berlin, Zurich, Basel, Stuttgart, Bochum and many more. At Theater Aachen, she realized her first production with “Die Nichtbesucherin. Etudes for a Building”, her first own directorial work.
Polly taught music as scenic practice at the AdbK and Otto Falckenberg School in Munich.
