Julian Greis was born in Hattingen in 1983 and studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart from 2003 to 2006. During this time, he was a guest performer at the Landestheater Esslingen and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. In 2006, he received the Solo and Ensemble Prize of the Drama School Meeting (Schauspielschultreffen) for his roles in 'Merlin oder Das verlassene Land'. After graduating, he became a resident ensemble member at the Schauspielhaus Graz under Anna Badora, where he worked with Viktor Bodó, Tom Kühnel and Christina Rast. He came to the Thalia Theater with its artistic director Joachim Lux and has worked with directors including Antú Romero Nunes, Kornél Mundruczó, Christopher Rüping and Jette Steckel. In December 2012, he was awarded the Boy Gobert Prize for young actors on Hamburg's stages, and in October 2014, he and his colleagues received the Rolf Mares Prize for 'Best Actor' for 'Moby Dick' (directed by Antú Romero Nunes). Julian Greis has been a permanent member of the ensemble since the 2009/2010 season. He also works as a successful narrator for audio books and radio plays and was awarded the German Children's Audio Book Prize BEO as Best Actor in 2017 and 2018.
