Wolfram Koch

Wolfram Koch, born in 1962 in Paris, studied acting at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. After early engagements at the Freie Volksbühne, the Schiller Theater Berlin, and Schauspiel Frankfurt, he was a member of the Schauspielhaus Bochum ensemble from 1995 to 2000. Since 2000, Wolfram Koch has worked as a freelance actor, performing at Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Burgtheater in Vienna, and the Schauspielhaus Zürich. He had a longstanding collaboration with director Dimiter Gotscheff, frequently appearing alongside actor Samuel Finzi in Gotscheff's productions.

In 2011, Wolfram Koch, together with Samuel Finzi, Almut Zilcher, and Dimiter Gotscheff, received the Berlin Theater Award. For Waiting for Godot (Deutsches Theater, directed by Ivan Panteleev, invited to the 2015 Theatertreffen), Koch and Finzi were awarded the Gertrud Eysoldt Ring in 2015. At Schauspielhaus Zürich, he appeared in Herbert Fritsch's productions of The Physicists (2013) and Totart Tatort (2019).

Wolfram Koch is also active in numerous television and film productions and works as an audiobook narrator. He made his film debut at the age of 13 in Voytech Jasny’s adaptation of The Clown (1975). His film credits include Hannah (2006, directed by Erica von Moeller), the novel adaptation The Discovery of Currywurst (2008, directed by Ulla Wagner), and Summer Outside (2013, directed by Friederike Jehn). For his role in Dead Man Working (2016, directed by Marc Bauder), he received the Grimme Award in 2017. From 2013 to 2024, he portrayed Chief Inspector Paul Brix in the Tatort series, set in his hometown of Frankfurt am Main.
