Models for the Pfauen

Futureproject Pfauen

“As many of you will know, the city of Zurich and the Schauspielhaus have been pondering for months, even years, what the Pfauen should look like in the future. Already before the beginning of our artistic direction – hip, extensive and inevitable plans for the renovation were the reasons why the city as well as this theatre’s staff have started to pose these questions: what are the advantages and disadvantages of the Pfauen, what are the character traits of this place – the ones worth preserving and loved, the ones forming a hindrance for producing plays and the theatre experience in general? Of course, experts must hold these discussions. However, you as an audience and we as employees at this theatre should also take an active part in them. Especially we, today’s theatre makers and lovers, have an interest in ensuring the preservation of this art form for the future and its adequate representation in the middle of and for this city.

Therefore, in the coming months, you are invited to at tend events initiated by the city and that we intend to realise: we will start with an exhibition of models of the future Pfauenbuildings; workshops, a public hearing, and a questionnaire will follow. We are looking forward to lively discussions and sharing new impresions and insights.”
