Ukraine Kiosk

Reading of Schwestern by Oksana Zabuzhko

With her sharp analyses and courageous language, Oksana Sabushko is one of the most important and best-known contemporary Ukrainian authors. Her prose works and essays are among the most widely read books in Ukraine and East Central Europe, with numerous translations and awards. At the Schauspielhaus Zürich, ensemble member Alicia Aumüller will read from her novel Schwestern (Sister, Sister). It is a collection of interwoven stories that focus on intense relationships between sisters or girls and at the same time trace personal and political narratives of Ukraine. The reading will be followed by a discussion with the author, moderated by Stas Zhyrkov and Katinka Deecke.

Ukraine Kiosk is a small series of readings with regards to the production Antigone in Butscha by Pavlo Arie, staged by Ukrainian director Stas Zhyrkov (Premiere: 4 May 2023 at the Pfauen)
