Composition I marks the beginning of the three-part series in which the group Moved by the Motion, together with members of the ensemble and guests, explores genre-spanning forms of storytelling. Structured as a fugue, the performance is composed of texts by James Baldwin and Fred Moten as well as by the music of Asma Maroof, Patrick Belaga, Kelsey Lu and Ahya Simone.
