Ulf Brauner grew up in Berlin and studied fashion design at the Berlin University of the Arts, product design at Tama Art University Tokyo and worked in Bombay in between. After graduating, he worked as a designer for a Berlin fashion label.
His first costume design was created in 2017 in collaboration with Josa Marx at the Lübeck Theatre with director Lucia Bihler. In the 18/19 season, he was employed as a costume assistant at the Staatstheater Stuttgart and moved to the Schauspielhaus Zurich in 2019, where he assisted for two years. Here he was involved in all of Christopher Rüping's Zurich productions; as assistant, in collaboration and as costume designer (for Dekalog and for Border).
