Miriam Ibrahim was born in Stuttgart in 1981 and grew up in Stuttgart and Addis Ababa. After passing her Abitur, she attended the Stage School Hamburg, where she successfully completed her stage entrance exams in singing, acting and dancing in 2005. From 2005 to 2009, she performed in various productions, including Mutter Afrika at Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Hexenjagd at Theater Bonn and Hair at Theater an der Rott. In addition, she taught acting at the Backstage Gruppe Hamburg and for BINI e.V. In 2009, Miriam Ibrahim moved to NYC and attended the Stella Adler Studio, where she graduated in acting in 2011. In the same year, she founded The Shades of Gray, with whom she realised her own original plays and performances. From 2013 to 2016, Miriam Ibrahim attended the Freie Universität Berlin and completed her Bachelor's degree in Theatre Studies and Social/Cultural Anthropology. She interned at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and the Staatsoper Stuttgart, assisted for John Gould Rubin and Armin Petras, and was then a permanent director's assistant at the Münchner Kammerspiele from 2017 to 2019. There she produced various formats, workshops and institutions such as the workshop Safe Place and Theater, the opera Lady Magnesia, a street performance Speakers Corner Repeat, the conversation format Tischszenen Reloaded.
Miriam Ibrahim continues to work as a dramaturge and director.
At Schauspiel Hannover she staged 1000 Serpentines Angst based on the novel by Olivia Wenzel. At the Staatstheater Augsburg she staged the play development Klang des Regens.
She was a permanent dramaturge at Theater Oberhausen for the seasons 20/21 and 21/22 until she moved to Schauspielhaus Zürich in January 2022.
