Sarah-Maria Hemmerling, born in 1998 near Würzburg, studied German Studies at the University of Vienna. During her studies, she gained experience as a directing intern at Volkstheater Wien and Schauspielhaus Wien.
In 2020, she first joined Schauspielhaus Zürich as a directing intern for the production Medea (directed by Leonie Böhm).
Since the 2022/2023 season, she has been a permanent assistant director at Schauspielhaus Zürich, working with directors such as Nicolas Stemann, Leonie Böhm, Alexander Giesche, Joana Tischkau, Stas Zhyrkov, Barbara Weber, Jette Steckel, and Bastian Kraft.
