Anna Stiepani

Anna Stiepani was born in Passau in 1989 and graduated from the University of Vienna with a degree in Theatre, Film and Media Studies. Her path to directing led her to the Burgtheater in Vienna and the Salzburger Festspiele, among others, where she worked as an assistant director. She made her directorial debut in 2013 at the Salzburger Landestheater (THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK). In 2019 she directed the Austrian debut of the play BEBEN by Maria Milisavljević in the Vestibül of the Burgtheater in Vienna. She has also directed at the Schauspielhaus Bochum (including VIEL GUT ESSEN by Sibylle Berg, ROBINSON CRUSOE by Daniel Defoe, DER GEFESSELTE PROMETHEUS by Aischylos), the Staatstheater Nürnberg (world premiere of HALT MICH AUF by Annika Henrich), the Main Franken Theater Würzburg (including the world premieres of KÄPTEN TAUMEL by Fanny Sorgo and DAS SCHWEIGENDE KLASSENZIMMER by Dietrich Garstka)and Landestheater Linz (LIEBELEI by Arthur Schnitzler). At the Staatstheater Meiningen, Stiepani staged another text by Maria Milisavljević, the world premiere of ALTE SORGEN. The collaboration between Maria Milisavljević, Thurid Peine and Anna Stiepani will continue in the current season. In January, the world premiere of STAUBFRAU will be presented at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, followed by the world premieres of ES WAR SOMMER UND WEIL ES SOMMER WAR, WAR ES WARM at the Staatstheater Meiningen in May.
