Thurid Peine, born in Berlin in 1978, studied stage and costume design at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz with Prof. Hans Schavernoch. She graduated with honours in 2004 and went on to work as an assistant at the Staatstheater Nürnberg, the Malmö Musikteater and the Volkstheater Wien. Since 2007, Thurid Peine has worked as a freelance set and costume designer at the Staatstheater Nürnberg, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Nationaltheater Weimar, the GRIPS-Theater Berlin and the Landestheater Salzburg. She has worked with directors such as David Hermann, Sandy Lopicic, Sönke Wortmann, Alice Asper and Olaf Strieb, as well as choreographer Laura Leora Witzleben. Together with Anna Stiepani, she developed the Austrian debut of BEBEN by Maria Milisavljević in the Vestibül of Vienna’s Burgtheater in 2019, DER GEFESSELTE PROMETHEUS at the Kammerspiele of the Schauspielhaus Bochum in 2021 and the debut of ALTE SORGEN at the Staatstheater Meiningen, also by Milisavljević.
