Catriona Guggenbühl

Catriona Guggenbühl, born in 1954, is a renowned Swiss actress with over 40 years of stage experience.

From 1989 to 2004, she worked regularly with director Christoph Marthaler and was part of the so-called "Marthaler family." During this time, she was a permanent ensemble member of Schauspielhaus Zürich from 2000 to 2004.

She toured internationally with Marthaler's productions, including her role as Lina Bögli in the play Lina Böglis Reise, which was invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen in 1997.

Further engagements led her to renowned stages such as Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Theater Basel, Opernhaus Zürich, and Theater Darmstadt.

She collaborated with directors such as Katharina Thalbach, Andreas Kriegenburg, Schors Kamerun, Nigel Lowery, Samuel Schwarz, Meret Matter, Martin Pfaff, Wojtek Klemm, Jonas Knecht, Marie Bues, and Matto Kämpf.

In the independent theater scene, she worked with various groups, including 400asa, Club 111, and Peng Palast.

She founded her own theater groups, such as "Freunde des Glücks," with which she developed the bar monologue Parle moi, performed in various bars. Another was the group "Mother T-Rex," with which she created the play Metamorphosen, later presented at a festival in Mexico City.

Since 2017, she has appeared in several productions at the Stadttheater St. Gallen.

In 2022, she performed at the Sogar Theater Zürich in Ruth Schweikert's play Tage wie Hunde.

This year, she will appear in the Swiss television series l'ultim Rumantsch.

She lives in Zurich and has a son.
