Prof. Dr. Sarah Brüningk leads the Center for AI-Based Radiation Therapy at Inselspital Bern and the University of Bern. She is a trained physicist (TU Munich, Germany) and completed her PhD at the interface of experimental laboratory work and computational biology at the Institute of Cancer Research (UK). She then conducted postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich, focusing on artificial intelligence for biomedical applications.
Her research combines mathematical modeling and advanced machine learning to process multimodal data—from omics data to imaging information—for applications in oncology. A particular focus of her work lies in developing innovative AI solutions for personalized medicine, especially in pediatric oncology.
With her work, Prof. Dr. Brüningk aims to advance the intersection of modern technology and medicine to improve diagnostics, develop new therapeutic approaches, and ultimately enhance patient care in a sustainable way.
