Mara Miribung

Born in Bolzano (Italy), she studied cello at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Following a classical education, she has musically evolved into a notorious wanderer between genres: she enjoys exploring the worlds of jazz and improvisation, lived for a time in Buenos Aires out of love for tango music, and enjoys working in cross-disciplinary contexts such as theatre and dance.

She pursued a specialization in Early Music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, studying Baroque cello with Christophe Coin and historical improvisation with Rudolf Lutz.

She performs with various international ensembles, including Kammerorchester Basel, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, Geneva Camerata, Camerata Variabile, and Cappella Gabetta.

Since 2011, she has been based in Basel, working as a freelance artist.
