Gabi Bernetta

Born in 1962 in Chur, she has lived and worked in Zurich since 1985. After receiving her diploma from KV Business School in 1982, she trained as an advertising assistant at SAWI Basel in 1989. Between 2002 and 2004, she completed a postgraduate degree in cultural management and was awarded an Executive Master of Advanced Studies diploma from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur in 2004.

In 1995, she founded Bernetta Theaterproduktionen and has since worked as a production and tour manager for independent groups and directors. Since 2010, she has produced all of Thom Luz’s productions.

From 1985 to 1990, she worked as a media consultant in various advertising agencies. From 1990 to 1995, she was head of artistic coordination at Kitz – Young Theater Zurich. Between 1999 and 2002, she was head of advertising and a member of the management team at Theater Kanton Zürich in Winterthur. From 2003 to 2004, she led communications at forum:claque – The Art Lab in Baden. From 2006 to 2009, she was managing director and head of communications at Theater Chur. In 2009–2010, she served as administrative director of the performance festival Kunstexpander in Aarau, and in 2013, she led the project for Spielträume 2013 at Alte Reithalle Aarau.

In 2016, she initiated and became the overall director of the national festival jungspund – Theater Festival for Young Audiences St. Gallen. In 2023, she taught a semester course in "Project Management" at Zurich University of the Arts (ZhdK) and joined the working group developing new standard wages and fees for t.Theaterschaffende Schweiz. From 2024 to 2026, she is a member of the Federal Jury for the Performing Arts.

In 2018, she was awarded the Swiss Theater Prize.
