Carol Schuler is a Swiss actress and singer. She began performing at the age of five at the Theater Winterthur. She completed her acting training at the European Theatre Institute in Berlin from 2006 to 2009. She then worked at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, the Opernhaus Zürich and the Berliner Volksbühne. From 2017 to 2020, she was a resident member of the Schaubühne Berlin. She has appeared in numerous Herbert Fritsch productions, most recently at the Opera Basel alongside star violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja. She played her first leading role in a film at the age of twelve in the feature film 'Lieber Brad'. For this portrayal, she became the youngest ever winner of the Swiss Film Award in the category 'Best Actress'. She went on to appear in numerous cinema and television productions in Germany and Switzerland. These included leading roles in Christoph Schaub's 'Nachtlärm', in 'Zweibettzimmer' alongside Anja Kling, and in Matthias Glasner's 'Blochin'. Carol Schuler also works as a singer and presents her vocal skills in films and on stage. She has appeared in international productions such as the US series 'Homeland' and the episodic film 'Berlin, I love you'. In 2019, Schuler filmed the Netflix series 'Skylines'. For her portrayal of 'Zilan', she was awarded the German Acting Award and the prestigious Grimme Prize. Since 2020, Carol Schuler and Anna Pieri Zuercher form the new team of female investigators in 'Tatort Zürich'. There she plays the unconventional and rebellious detective Tessa Ott, for which she was awarded the Prix Swiss Perform in 2024. She lives in Berlin and Zurich.
