Sebastian Nübling (*1960), studied cultural studies at the University of Hildesheim, taught there as a lecturer and founded the group “Theater Mahagoni” with other independent artists. In 2002, Sebastian Nübling was voted up-and-coming director of the year in the “theater heute” critics' poll and was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen with his Basel production of Ibsen's “John Gabriel Borkman”. Five further Theatertreffen invitations followed. Nübling has also been directing opera since 2006. He has worked continuously at the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and the Schauspielhaus.
