Martin Hofstetter

Practical training at Hardstudios in Winterthur laid the foundation for his career. He has since worked on projects in various studios, including Rotfarb Studio in Uznach, Alterna Recording Studios in Basel, and Vega-Studio Carpentras (FR). He also has a strong affinity for recording in unconventional, non-studio environments. In 2005, he completed his training as a certified sound engineer at ZEPRA, earning the Swiss Federal Diploma. He has also attended masterclasses with renowned engineers Roger Nichols and Buford Jones.

In addition to his studio work, he has worked with various live sound companies, led the rental department at Tonart Schenker in Lucerne for several years, and toured as a front-of-house engineer with bands such as “My Heart Belongs To Cecilia Winter,” “Silberbüx,” and “The Calling Sirens.”

He is also active as a sound designer for numerous theatre productions, touring internationally with Thom Luz’s independent productions. In 2019, he was invited to the 56th Berliner Theatertreffen with Luz’s Girl from the Fog Machine Factory.

As a musician, he was part of the electro-pop project “Modell Bartli” for many years, playing bass and handling electronics, performing both nationally and internationally. Currently, he gallops into the distance with his band “Doppelpony,” bass in tow. Since July 2009, he has been working as a freelance sound engineer and producer, recording, producing, and mixing both in external studios and in his own control room in Zurich. He is the sound designer and audio engineer for all of Thom Luz’s independent productions.
