Ebru Tartıcı Borchers studied drama at Bilkent University in Ankara from 2008 to 2013. After her acting training and first engagements, she moved to Germany in 2014. In 2015 and 2016, she worked as an assistant director in film, and in 2017 and 2018 at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. From 2018 to 2022, she studied directing at the Thomas Bernhard Institute of the Mozarteum in Salzburg and completed her training with the world premiere of Knechte by Caren Jeß. The production earned her a nomination as best up-and-coming artist in the Theater heute critics' poll. She has staged productions at, among others, the Staatstheater Mainz, the Theater Oberhausen, the Stadttheater Gießen, the Junges Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Theater an der Parkaue Berlin. Since the 2024/25 season, she has been resident director at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, where her productions include Maya Arad Yasur's Amsterdam, for which she was nominated for the German Theatre Prize 'Der Faust' in 2023. In addition to her work as a director, she also translates German plays into Turkish.
