Alexandra Althoff studied Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen, Dramaturgy in Leipzig and Film in Amsterdam. She has worked as a resident dramaturg at Schauspiel Köln, Schauspielhaus Bochum and Schauspiel Frankfurt. In 2009, together with Bernhard Mikeska and Lothar Kittstein, she founded the art collective RAUM+ZEIT, whose productions have been commissioned by Schauspiel Frankfurt, Residenztheater München, Kunstfest Weimar, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and Berliner Ensemble. ‘Antigone :: Comeback’ was invited to the 2019 Schweizer Theatertreffen, while ‘Berlau :: Königreich der Geister’ was awarded the Friedrich Luft Prize in 2022 – both productions combine VR installation and theatre. From 2019 to 2022, she acted as deputy artistic director of the Burgtheater. She has taught at the Thomas Bernhard Institute at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz and the HfMDK in Frankfurt am Main. In 2023, Alexandra Althoff was appointed Senior Artist at the Max Reinhardt Seminar, which she has directed since March 2024.
